SALI Youth Camp
SALI Youth Camp
In line with the celebration of Youth Month, we are launching a year-long program called “SALI Youth Camp,” where student participants will gather every Saturday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, to discuss biblical values, empowerment, leadership, social responsibilities, and more through the reading of God’s word and discussion among fellow students, share life’s struggles and supporting one another.
This program is also in support of DO 010 s2024 titled “Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum,” empowering Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao through the involvement of learners in Supreme Secondary Learner Government programs and part of our advocacy in strengthening one of the nation’s core values; MAKA-DIYOS.
The
term SALI means “to join” in Filipino, and this calls students to join this
fellowship to develop and empower themselves through the knowledge of God and
God’s love for them. SALI is also an acronym for Salt and Light. In the Bible,
Jesus told believers to be salt and light wherever they go. To be salt means to
preserve the world from corruption and wrongful ways, to add wonderful flavor
to the community where they are called to be and to be light means to show hope
to the people around them and bring light in the darkness where people
currently dwell.
I. Objectives
The
SALI Youth Camp aims for the following;
a)
Love God and
Love Others
To understand the gospel at its core and
understand God’s love and grace so that they will use them to love God and love
their neighbors as themselves.
'He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all
your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your
mind,” and “your neighbor as yourself.” '
- Luke 10:27
b)
Empowering
the Youth
Shaping the youth to embrace their unique
gifts and talents and becoming good and faithful stewards of their resources to
make a difference in the world.
'Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but set
an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in
purity. '
- 1 Timothy 4:12
c)
Developing
Future Leaders
Equip the youth with leadership skills that
are grounded in humility and service.
'It must not be like that among you. On the
contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,'
- Matthew 20:26
d)
Cultivating
Empathy
Develop empathy among youth for others, bear
one another’s burdens, and show compassion as Jesus Christ did.
'And be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.'
- Ephesians 4:32
e)
Excellence
Encourage the youth to work and study
diligently and wholeheartedly in all they do, knowing that they are ultimately
serving God.
'Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as
something done for the Lord and not for people, '
- Colossians 3:23
f)
Fellowship
Foster a community where the youth support and
encourage each other, building each other up in faith and love.
'Therefore encourage one another and build
each other up as you are already doing. '
- 1 Thessalonians 5:11
